AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS
25 January 2012
By Jules Gabriel Verne
This will be the pioneering year for the Form 3 kids... No more comfy with Robinson Crusoe and the cannibals as Phileas Fogg and J. Passepartout take over the new ride in our literature syllabus...and it's very true, anything new or changes for people is very scary...some people don't like changes but let's take that as a challenge. We have to work a little bit more so that we can lessen our anxiety...
There are other novels being introduced as well...such as "How I met myself" ~ David A. Hill and "The Railway Children" ~ Edith Nesbit. But I found out later in our local bookstores in Sibu (a division in Sarawak), there are NO materials on both of the literature texts..so I opt for the one proposed by the Curriculum Development for Sabah and Sarawak.
.....a teacher-friend from Sabah gave me a link on YouTube of the movie trailer and I've seen some parts of it. I've yet to finish reading the edited version of the text but I find it'll be helpful for the school kids to 'see' the story after reading it. We'll start off our journey after the Chinese New Year holidays...which will be next week..so in the mean time, I hope it's okay to download all the movie parts (all 23 of them)... so, here are the links.
Hope any Form 3 teachers or school kids involved in the text will find these videos helpful....only handicap for second language learners is, there are no subtitles...
